The forms take about 30 minutes to 45 minutes to complete so be prepared to sit for about an hour for the paperwork process. Nebraska is currently exempt from Precious Metal Tax Responsibilities (Currently the only State in the Nation under “Nebraska Article Bill LB1317 (2024)”. Once rummaging is completed it’s not uncommon to have bagged several heavy duty bags of valuable, valuables our agents call the “loot”. Once we have the loot. We go through an auditing process that usually takes a full day on larger projects. This process is looping and examining the jewelry & sorting out the Gold and Silver Jewelry from the costume jewelry.

Once the Gold & Silver becomes sorted away. The metal will be weighted for crude estimate value for final expected Payout Estimates, Costs, and Fees. Actual Costs and Fees may vary slightly until the payout is fully completed. (Its highly unusual to not know if there is a need to use our service, if see lots of expensive markings someone will be calling DoorsOpen to help navigate those corridors where a Estate Jewelry Broker is needed (pictures may be requested by your coordinator via email if there is any discretions an agent may have trouble interpreting). Once Precious Metals have been sorted from the areas you have directed us to investigate, the lots will be weighed and recorded for tracking purposes, those entire lots will be the Pre-Weight before heading to the furnace being operated at the depository. Once the Gold and Silver becomes sorted away. The metal will be weighted for crude estimate value for final expected payout costs & fees. Actual Costs and Fees may vary slightly until the payout is fully completed. If you have not already retrieved the heirlooms you sought to keep from the jewelry prior to our arrival. We have established a fee for “Heirloom Retrieval” in the scope of Clear-out to Close projects. “Heirloom Retrieval” charged at an affordable cost to those who need Accessibility Assistance from your DoorsOpen agent who is your Trusted Provider. The Gold and Silver that is allowed to be alleviated from the Estate for the Melt Down will be given approval by the customer for transportation to the depository and your DoorsOpen Agent will begin the process of transporting the precious metals for meltdown, All Jewelry is typically destroyed completely for Bulk Melt Value. Meltdown only takes 1 to 2 business days and an invoice on the final payout for post melt value is received. Your payout is based on a few factors.

If the Post-Melt value is below $10,000 you will only be charged the $2,500 deposit and accumulated service fees and the additional agreed on service charges.

If the Post-Melt value is below $20,000 but above $10,000, you will be charged a $2500 service deposit fee payable before contract begins plus an additional $2,500 commission totaling $5,000 in service fees and the additional agreed on service charges.

If the Post-Melt is above $20,000 you will be charged the $2,500 Service Deposit plus and additional $2500.00 commission totaling $5,000.00 in service fees; furthermore any Gold and Silver going to be deposited as either Post-Melt or Bullion Form that is valuated exceeding $20,000, then a spread of 20% of the Actual Payout will be subtracted as a commission for the Specialized Trade Brokering of Bulk Precious Metals ($200 per $1,000 Payout Spread). You will receive 80 percent of the payout on transactions paying more than $20,000 minus the initial $5,000 in Services fees and additional agreed on costs.

Expected costs will be different from actual costs, actual costs maybe slightly higher if operating costs go above our operating budget; or when additional services are requested. Actual Cost will be either subtracted from the payout or amended to the contract as seen on your DoorsOpen invoicing. A Payment will need to be made right away to your agent when the Contract Deposit is due or if any bills are requested for payment.
